How TofuBofu works
TofuBofu measures whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and the other engines recommend you, then fixes the gaps. AEO and GEO with a scoreboard, from scan to action plan in a few minutes.
You enter your website
Our AI researches your company by crawling your site. It identifies your industry, competitors, service lines, and the queries your buyers ask. You review and adjust before we scan.
We generate high-intent queries
Decision-stage queries, not generic awareness searches: "best [your service] for [industry]", "top [your category] companies 2026", "best alternative to [your competitor]." These drive pipeline.
We query all 5 AI engines
Each query goes to ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode. Every engine searches the live web before it answers. A model reads each full response to decide whether it names you. No name counts as absent, so no inflated scores.
We crawl your website
We check your homepage, services, about and contact pages for schema markup (Organization, FAQ, Service, LocalBusiness). We also check robots.txt AI bot rules and content structure, then compare against your competitors.
AI diagnoses the gaps
GPT-4o analyzes the results: your visibility data, competitor data, and site audit. It generates root causes, content gaps, and specific recommendations grounded in the actual scan data, not generic advice.
You get deliverables
Deliverables, not recommendations. Content briefs with title, outline, word count, target queries and schema to include. Ready-to-paste JSON-LD schema, plus a 30-day action plan of 5 items, each tied to the queries it fixes.
What the scan measures: your AI Visibility Index
A buyer's journey through AI runs the same funnel as any other. First they ask who the options are, then which one to pick. The TofuBofu AI Visibility Index measures both moments, as two numbers we never blend:
- Tofu Index: are you getting mentioned? The share of queries where AI names you. 5 queries across 5 engines is 25 queries, and each one counts.
- Bofu Index: are you getting recommended? The share of head-to-head comparisons, you against a named rival, where AI picks you.
The free scan gives you the Tofu Index. Fix and Dominate add the Bofu Index.
Frequently asked questions
How is the TofuBofu AI Visibility Index calculated?
Your AI Visibility Index is two numbers, never blended. A query is one buying question put to one engine, so 5 queries across all 5 engines is 25 queries. The Tofu Index is the share of those queries where AI names you; the Bofu Index is the share of head-to-head comparisons against a named rival where AI picks you. The free Track scan gives you the Tofu Index; Fix and Dominate add the Bofu Index. Both focus on decision-stage queries, the ones closest to a purchase and to real pipeline risk.
What AI engines do you cover?
All 5: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode.
How do you prevent false positives?
After our AI analyzes each response, we run server-side string verification. If your brand name does not literally appear in the response text, we override the analysis to absent. We built this after GPT-4o-mini inflated scores by marking brands as mentioned when they were not.
What is a content brief?
A specific, actionable writing plan. Example: Title: IT Support for Dental Practices. Target queries: best IT support for dental clinics, MSP for dental offices. Outline: 5 sections covering compliance, cost, features, comparison, FAQ. Word count: 2,500. Schema to include: FAQPage, Article.
Does the scan touch or change my website?
No. The scan is read-only: it puts your buyers' queries to the AI engines and records who gets named, without logging into or changing your site. On a paid plan, drafts go live only after you approve them, published through your CMS with your permission. Nothing touches your live site without your say-so.
How is this different from an SEO tool like Ahrefs or Semrush?
SEO tools measure Google: rankings, keywords, backlinks. TofuBofu measures the AI engines, which use different signals, then builds the content that closes the gaps. You can rank well on Google and still be invisible in ChatGPT, because they are different systems. This is measure-and-fix for AI answers, not a Google-rank dashboard.
How often does a scan run, and how fast does the number move?
Track runs one scan a month; paid plans scan weekly. Every engine we query searches the live web, so a new page can reach an answer once that engine finds it. Speed varies by engine and query, so watch the trend scan over scan rather than expecting an overnight jump.
What do I actually get after a scan?
Your AI Visibility Index: the Tofu Index (the share of queries where AI names you), plus on paid plans the Bofu Index (the share of head-to-head comparisons where AI picks you). You also get a per-query and per-engine breakdown of where you are missing, the competitors AI names in your place, and a ranked list of gaps to close. On paid plans, each gap maps to a content brief we then write.
